The SYSLAB Concept is based on ”learning by doing” in heterogeneous groups of 20 to 40 people (with engineering, MBA and social science backgrounds), preferably of ages ranging from 25 to 60-65 and a close to 50/50 gender ratio. Thus making up a multi disciplinary small company, focusing teambuilding and active interaction with the regional business community. SYSLAB creates highly motivated knowledge workers and entrepreneurs with a professional attitude towards their future roles in society.

Proliferation

SYSLAB became internationally known for its break-through methods and exceptionally good results. In 1996 the Concept was licensed to CESI – the largest French private/public industrial education foundation. SYSLAB units were established in Paris, Bordeaux, Aix-en-Provence and Montpellier. In 1997 additional units were established in Arboga and Enköping, two Swedish towns were industrial restructuring (automotive and telecom) resulted in increased unemployment of elderly skilled workers. At this time we participated in a networking project under the Leonardo da Vinci Programme, with Austrian, French, Spanish and Swedish partners.

Since 1999 we have by license agreement established SYSLAB units in Fryazino, Pushkino and Lubertse, three former Science Cities in Moscow Oblast. Here we co-operate with Moscow Regional Employment Service, United Nations Development Programme and the Norwegian Government.

In 2002 a new SYSLAB unit was established in Visaginas, Lithuania, in conjunction with decommissioning of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. Here some 5.000 highly qualified workers will have to find new jobs over the next five to ten years. In Lithuania we work closely with UNDP, the Lithuanian Ministry of Economy, Labour Market Authorities and the Norwegian Government.
